How many ounces of silver one ounce of gold buys. It is the oldest relative-value gauge in the metals market, and it is simply one spot price divided by the other.
Gold ÷ Silver
66.63
ounces of silver per ounce of gold
Gold $4,604.40 ÷ Silver $69.11
What the number means
A high ratio means silver is cheap relative to gold; a low one means the opposite. It has ranged
roughly between 15 and 120 over the past century, so there is no single "correct" level — only
where it sits now against where it has been.
It is a comparison, not a signal. Nothing here is investment advice.
